OUR FINAL ENGLISH LESSON FOR YEAR 2024.

 ENGLISH WORDS WITH POLITENESS AND RESPECT:

Since there are just few days before the month of JULY is over, bringing the month of our English Lesson for 2024 to a close, we therefore have to Serve earlier this week, than the previous weeks. We will begin our AUGUST Services next week, as it is on our SERVICE SCHEDULE FOR 2024. This may sound as good news to those who don’t like our English Lesson Service. That is ok with us, none of our Services, is forced on anybody, it is for ‘WHOSOEVER WILL’, just as the Gospel of Jesus Christ is. God Himself Told the children of Israel, His Own Chosen Nation that, ‘I HAVE SET BEFORE YOU LIFE AND DEATH; CHOOSE LIFE, THAT IT MAY BE WELL WITH YOU`, God Presented them with His Commandments, which He Knew that, if they would OBEY, their LIVES WOULD BE GOOD AND BLESSED. God even Disclosed to them, THE TYPES OF GREAT BLESSINGS that would come to them, if they OBEYED HIS COMMANDMENTS(SEE Deuteronomy 28 KJV). God even Disclosed also, the types of EVILS(curses) that would come to them, if they OBEYED NOT HIS COMMANDMENTS. Then, God LEFT THEM WITH THEIR FREE-WILL TO MAKE THEIR OWN CHOICES-EITHER TO OBEY HIS COMMANDMENTS AND RECEIVE THOSE BOUNTIFUL BLESSINGS, OR TO DISOBEY HIM, AND SUFFERED UNDER THE CURSES. As long as they obeyed God’s Commandments, the children of Israel were LIVING IN ABUNDANCE, WITH ABUNDANT OF PEACE. But THE OPPOSITE, WERE THEIR PORTION, EACH SEASON THAT THEY DISOBEYED GOD’S INSTRUCTIONS TO THEM.

So, I, The Proprietor of HIM, cannot PRESSURIZE you into making use of my little helping hand to know, or to improve on your knowledge of English Language. I leave you to make your own choice, but I can encourage you to make good use of The Lesson. If you find it complicated or hard to learn it and know, put a little more effort, coupled with the interest to know, then ASK GOD TO HELP YOU GET IT RIGHT, WITH THE INTEREST TO ADD A BIT OF HONOUR TO YOUR GENERAL KNOWLEDGE, WHEN SPEAKING ENGLISH. If you take these steps, I believe with all my heart that, YOU WILL SUCCEED AND END UP LIKING THE LESSON, AND THE BENEFITS IT OFFERS. I used to hate GEOGRAPHY lesson, when I was in Secondary School. The mere appearance of the teacher in the classroom, could cause me stress, and I would wish the lesson should be over within five minutes. But One Term’s examination and the result, CHANGED MY INTEREST IN GEOGRAPHY, FOREVER. That School Term’s Examination, my result for the subject, was 49%! I had never been so low in my Examination’s result, before then. When I later asked some of my classmates of their result, some of them were hitting 60, 70 and 80%. I asked myself whether they were not under the same Teacher(Tutor), receiving the same lesson, as I was! I knew I was not very good in reading for any subject, and on any lesson before examination. But it was my determination not to miss a single lecture/lesson. So, I had to be in class for all lessons, listened attentively, asked questions when necessary, PUT DOWN WHAT I HEARD IN WRITING, AND IN A SIMPLIFIED FORM FOR MY BETTER UNDERSTANDING, AND MADE SURE THAT STAYED IN MY BRAIN! But when I decided to STUDY GEOGRAPHY, SO AS NEVER TO HAVE AGAIN, A FAILURE MARK OF 49% IN EXAMINATION RESULT; I DID NOT ONLY ATTEND ALL LECTURES AND TOOK DOWN MY OWN NOTES; I LEARNED ALSO TO READ TEXT BOOKS AND TEACHERS NOTES ON THE LESSON TOO! I STUDIED GEOGRAPHY MORE THAN ALL OTHER SUBJECTS THAT I WAS ALREADY GOOD AT. MY NEXT EXAMINATION RESULT ON GEOGRAPHY, WAS SO SURPRISING THAT, EVEN MY FATHER WHO HARDLY COMPLIMENTED ME ON MY EDUCATIONAL SPLENDID ACHIEMENTS, COULDN’T HIDE HIS FEELINGS WHEN HE SAW MY RESULT ON GEOGRAPHY, THAT YEAR. I HAD 98%!!

I had to bring in the above story, peradventure, it could HELP STUDENTS IN EDUCATION TODAY. The same benefit could come to anybody who finds CHRISTIANITY BORING, OR DIFFICULT TO PRACTISE IT ON GOD’S OWN TERM. Same benefit can come to someone, who is sure that, the PROJECT, THE COURSE, THE PLAN THAT HE OR SHE IS PURSUING, IS NOT SINFUL, BUT A NATURAL GOOD THING THAT MEETS GOD’S DESIRE FOR HIM OR FOR HER; IF THE PERSON PURSUES IT WITH GOOD INTEREST, AND WITH A GOOD HEART THAT DOES NOT INTEND TO BRING SOMEONE ELSE INTO GRIEF, IN ORDER FOR THE PURSUER TO SUCCED; SUCH PERSON COULD SUCCEED, IF THAT IS GOD’S WILL FOR HIM/HER.

TODAY’S(29/07/24) LESSON PROPER:

SATEMENTS, WITH POLITENESS, AND RESPECT. GOODMORNING(insert the right time of the day you are in) Sir, may I ask you for leave of absence, to attend my Uncle’s Funeral, please? This is more polite than:

b)HELLO sir, can you grant me permission to attend my uncle’s funeral, please? (`sir`, `uncle` and funeral, should not begin with small letters. However, the statement is still better than:

1. c) HI, Sir, may I ask you for permission to attend my Uncle’s Funeral, please? The reason why this statement is worse than the previous ones, is that, your letter to this your boss can offend your boss, and may cause him to delay the response; simply because he may find your greeting-`HI`, to be insulting. Try not to greet your elder or boss, with `HI`.

If you are verbally communicating with them, you can use, `EXCUSE ME SIR`, instead of HI, or, HEY etc.

Also, when writing to your mother or father, USE capital letters for, `Mother`, `Father`, `Dad`, `Mum` etc.

When you are speaking to someone who is not your mate, and even if he or she is your mate, but you want to speak to him or to her, with respect, then avoid saying:

• STOP calling me when I am at work(it is rude). Use the word, `CAN` you not call me when I am at work! or, please AVOID calling me when I am at work, or, DON’T call me when I am at work
• CAN’T you see that I am at work? (This statement is rude, unless you are annoyed seriously by the person you are speaking to, and he or she knows he has stressed you up). A polite version of it can be: DO YOU UNDERSTAND THAT I NEED CONCENTRATION ON THE JOB I’M DOING!

Please note that, questions like the above, are not actually questions, and should not follow QUESTION MARK(?), rather, an EXCLAMATION MARK(!).

NDOK;

 IS OUR SERVICE FOR THIS WEEK.

WHAT IS `NDOK?

As I was growing up in the 60s, there was no ELECTRICITY LIGHT in my Village, nor in all the surrounding villages. MOONLIGHT, was the only source that lightened villages, and the MOON would only appear occasionally-ONCE A MONTH. Within such month, the MOON could appear every night, for a few days, but each of the nights could receive the bright ray of the MOON, until dawn. So, with the excitement of the MOONLIGHT, brightening everywhere like electricity lights, children from different families within the neighbourhood, would come around together, and made good use of the light; they would play in groups, all through the night until they were tired. Their last GAME for that night, could be to TELL STORIES THAT ARE NOT TRUE-FICTION. Someone from the group would volunteer to tell this UNREAL STORY(NDOK). But before you could volunteer, you had to  make sure that, your story would be interesting to others, full of fun to bring laughters, but with a certain TIME LIMIT. If at the end of your story, your group found your story boring and uninteresting, you could receive WORDS OF ABUSE MOCKINGS, AND SHAME from as many of the people as could pour these on you(had to be from people in the group who are your age mate, for there was respect to the elders, in those days). I am not sure if something like that still exists today, and if does, whether many children are still interested in it, and in the MOONLIGHT. With the advent of MOBILE PHONES AND SOCIAL MEDIA, MONLIGHT- families’ play, could be replaced with opportunity to use the light and LUANCH into the WEB, comfortably.

Now that you have understood what `NDOK` means, Hatifmandu wants to use our Service for this week, and brings out our own `NDOK`, during this bright afternoon, under SUNLIGHT, AND NOT MOONLIGHT, this time around. We hardly notice MOONLIGHT in London, because electricity lights are all over the place, and seems to DIM THE MOONLIGHT when it appears. I miss that.

NDOK, is usually opened with a form of greetings, from the person who volunteers to bring it out. So, now, I start with that greetings:

`EKONG NKE...` (You can respond to that in the usual way, if you know).

Once upon a time, there was a very PROUD HUNTER, and was VERY GREEDY AND SELFISH. He lived in a village which respected him, because he was good at his profession-HUNTING. There was another village, very far away from the village this HUNTER came from, and the village was unknown to this HUNTER. One day, the HUNTER decided to travel out to visit his daughter in another village. As he was going, he saw one BIG FOREST by the side of the road, the forest was very attractive to him, and did not look like other forests that he had visited for his GAME)HUNTING). He took note of the village and the forest, but promised himself to return with his HUNTING EQUIPMENTS, TO HUNT THERE. Two months after, he returned and went into the forest, but he did not know that, an elder from this village, had seen him, and noticed that, the HUNTER was not one of them. In villages in those days, all villagers who grew up in that village, and had lived there for atleast, over 20years, would know each person that lived in that village, young or old. This is so, because villages are like a Community, small enough for the residents to know each other. So, in this village that the HUNTER visited to HUNT there, their FOREST was very important to them, because there was one BIG LION THAT LIVED IN THE FOREST, AND USED TO GIVE BIRTH TO YOUNG LIONS, EVERY MONTH, creating frequent availability of MEAT for the villagers, and also, PROTECTING the villagers from any external attack from the outsiders. THE LION WAS VERY POWERFUL AND LOVED BY THE ELDERS, THAT THEY NAMED IT `DEAR`, but was pronounced as `DEER`.. So, when this villager saw the HUNTER entering into the FOREST, he was afraid the HUNTER could kill their beloved DEAR. He quickly went to the home of the VILLAGE HEAD, and reported the HUNTER to the village head. As usual announcements in villages are, a drum was beaten, and the town-cryer, went into the village and called all elders to assemble in the village head’s house, according to the instruction from the village head himself. Few minutes later, the elders responded, and the village head sent them to go into the forest and bring him the HUNTER. When the HUNTER arrived, the village head told him that, he and the elders present, had JUST TWO QUESTIONS FOR HIM TO CHOOSE FROM AND TO ANSWER. THE VILLAGE HEAD SAID THAT, THE HUNTER SHOULD BE CAREFUL IN HIS CHOICE, BECAUSE HE WAS TO BE TREATED ACCORDING TO WHAT HE WOULD CHOOSE. The village head said, `CHOOSE ONE; ARE YOU STUPID; OR ARE YOU STUPID`. The HUNTER, being a very PROUD man, and never wanted to be seen as a STUPID man, asked the village head, `BUT YOU SAID YOU HAD TWO QUESTIONS FOR ME, WHAT IS THE OTHER QUESTION, APART FROM STUPID`? The village head told him that, there was no other question, more than the two STUPID ones. The HUNTER replied, `NO, I AM NOT STUPID`. The village head told him that, he was not allowed to add any `NOT` words to his answer, that his answer should be like, `I AM....` At this point, the HUNTER knew that he could not avoid admitting that, HE WAS STUPID, and he said, `I AM STUPID`. The elders then decided to TREAT THE HUNTER, AS STUPID, and then decided to be  sending him back to the forest, every day, and ordered him to make sure he HUNTED IN THE FOREST, AND TO BE BRINGING THEM A GAME(MEAT) EVERYDAY, FOR FIVE DAYS. Before the HUNTER went back into the forest, a few questions were asked him, to let him know why the elders thought he was STUPID. They asked him, `WHY DID YOU LEAVE ALL THE FORESTS NEAR YOUR VILLAGE, BUT TRAVELLED FOUR DAYS, TO AN UNKNOWN VILLAGE, TO HUNT IN AN UNKNOWN FOREST`? `WHY DID YOU THINK THERE WERE STILL MANY ANIMALS IN THE FOREST, AND THAT, THERE WAS NO SKILLFUL HUNTER LIKE YOU, TO KILL THEM FOR MEAT, EXCEPT YOU`? `WHY DID YOU WANT TO KILL OUR DEAR`? The HUNTER quickly interrupted and said, I did not target any  animal, including DEER(he thought they meant deer, one of the animals that can live in a bush). At that point, the elders begged him that, he could kill all other animals in the forest, BUT NOT THEIR BELOVED, DEAR, ELSE, THE WHOLE VILLAGE WOULD GIREVE FOR YEARS. At this point, the HUNTER was glad to take the punishment he was given, that was, to KILL EVERY DAY FROM THE FOREST, AND TO BRING THEM MEAT FOR FIVE DAYS. The HUNTER wanted to use that, and REVENGED THEM, HE PROMISED WITHIN HIMSELF, TO KILL THEIR `DEER`, AND THUS MAKE THEM GRIEVE FOR YEARS, AS THEY SAID. As the HUNTER was about to go to the forest, the elders said to him, `please be careful with our DEAR, don’t say its name when you get to the forest, lest, you would wake him up. We don’t disturb him when he is sleeping`. But as soon as the HUNTER entered the forest, he shouted out, `DEER(and the LION thought he was calling his name-DEAR)`. The HUNTER KNEW THAT DEER, HAS NO POWER TO HURT HIM, BUT WANTED TO WAKE IT UP, SO THAT HE COULD KNOW THE DIRECTION THAT THE DEER WAS, AND THEN KILLED IT. But as soon as the LION heard its name, it went towards the direction that its name was called. Before the man even had the opportunity to use his GUN, or run away, THE LION TORE HIM INTO PIECES, BECAUSE IT THOUGHT THAT, BEING A STRANGER THAT IT NEVER SEEN COME TO THE FOREST/VILLAGE, HE WOULD KILL IT, AND NOT TREASURED IT LIKE THE ITS VILLAGERS DID, BECAUSE THEY LOVED IT. When the day was far spent, and the elders did not see the HUNTER back with meat, they thought might be, the four gates that kept the village safe, which were by this time locked so that the HUNTER could not run back to his village; the elders thought these gates might have been fiddled with, and the HUNTER might have run away to his village. So they checked the gates, but they were all locked. They went to the FOREST, AND THERE THEY SAY THE HUNTER DEAD, BUT THEIR DEAR, SAVED! The HUNTER wanted to kill the DEAR, and had it, so the villagers would not know he was responsible for the death, but would mourn for years, as they said. But the HUNTER’S plan and PLOT, BACKFIRED ON HIM..

In conclusion, we have got similar question to ask you, similar to the ones that the village head had for the HUNTER. In our own questions, we are going to give you an opportunity, a different option to choose from, and not traping you nor force you to admit and choose just same option.

1. ARE YOU STUPID, OR ARE YOU WISEENOUGH TO BELIEVE THE BIBLE THAT SAYS THAT, `PRIDE GOES BEFORE A FALL, AND AN HAUGHTY SPIRIT, BEFORE DESTRUCTION`? (CHOOSE ONE).
2. ARE YOU STUPID, OR ARE YOU SENSIBLE ENOUGH TO REASON IT OUT THAT, GREED OR COVETEOUSNESS FOR SOMETHING THAT YOU TRULY KNOW THAT IT DOES NOT BELONG TO YOU, AND THUS SHOULD NOT CAUSE YOU TO MAKE A FOUR DAY’S JOURNEY, IN ORDER TO ROB THE RIGHTFUL OWNERS OF IT; NOR STAGE A FIGHT TO KILL THE RIGHTFUL OWNER, WHEREVER YOU MAY BE, FIGHTING`? (CHOOSE ONE).
3. ARE YOU STUPID, OR ARE YOU MAKING USE OF YOUR GOOD SENSES, TO KNOW THAT, MANY OTHER PEOPLE ON EARTH, ARE IN WORSE SIUATIONS THAN YOU, AND THAT, YOU CAN BE OF HELP TO ONE NEAR YOU(as God May Speak into your conscience), INSTEAD OF TRYING TO TAKE TO YOURSELF, THE LITTLE THEY HAVE-SELFISHNESS`? (CHOOSE ONE).
4. ARE YOU STUPID, OR ARE YOU COURTEOUS ENOUGH TO KNOW THAT, EVERY HUMAN BEING THAT GOD CREATED, WANTS PEACE, AND THAT, YOU SHOULD BE CAREFUL ENOUGH(as far as human can, for God’s Pleasure), OF WHAT YOU DO TO PEOPLE, IN WORDS AND IN DEEDS, SO THAT YOU DONT ROB ANY BODY OF HIS OR OF HER PEACE THAT GOD HAS GIVEN TO EACH ONE, EXCEPT, GOD GIVES YOU SUCH AUTHORITY, BECAUSE OF HIS NAME, OR BECAUSE OF THE SOUL OF SUCH PERSON, OF FOR OTHER SOULS THAT GOD MAY WANT TO USE YOU TO HELP GET OUT FROM HELL FIRE`? (CHOOSE ONE_
5. ARE YOU STUPID, OR DO YOU KNOW THAT, SOME THINGS THAT YOU THINK YOU MUST REVENGE WITH, AND OF, COULD MULTIPLY YOUR PROBLEMS INSTEAD OF SOLVING YOUR PROBLEMS, OR INSTEAD OF BRINGING YOU PEACE YOU NEED`? (CHOOSE ONE).
6. LASTLY, ARE YOU STUPID, OR ARE YOU NOW IN THE POSITION WHERE YOU FULLY UNDERSTAND THAT, GOD IS JUDGING SIN, HAS EVER BEEN JUDGING, AND WILL EVER JUDGE EVERY EVIL WORK DONE ON EARTH HERE, WITH PUNISHMENT TO THE DOER, HERE ON EARTH, AND IF THE PERSON DOES NOT REPENT BEFORE DEATH, THEN THE PERSON WILL BE JUDGED WITH THE PUNISHMENT OF ETERNAL SUFFERING IN THE LAKE OF FIRE, AND FOREVER`? (CHOOSE ONE).

Like the village head advised the HUNTER, to CHOOSE CAREFULLY, BECAUSE HE WAS TO BE `REWARDED` ACCORDING TO HIS CHOICE; SO DO WE ADVISE YOU HERE, THAT YOU CHOOSE CAREFULLY, SO THAT YOUR CHOICES WOULD BRING YOU BLESSINGS, INSTEAD OF CURSES! If you had already made mistakes in your choices, we believe that, if you RUN NOW TO GOD AND CONFESS TO HIM, REPENT AND LEAVE THAT EVIL OR BAD LIFE, AND CHANGE OF HEART  PURSUITS, WE BELIEVE GOD CAN FORGIVE YOU, AND RELIEVE; CHAANGING  YOUR WAY, WE BELIEVE THAT, WHATEVER YOU MAY BE SURFFERING NOW, BECAUSE OF THE BAD CHOICES YOU MADE. CAN BE REDUCED AND GOD’SPEACE CAN COME UPON YOU, THROUGH HIS MERCY, BECAUSE OF YOUR NEW HEART NOW. May God RECEIVE YOU, AS YOU REPENT, AND AS YOU CHANGEYOUR HEART AND YOUR BAD WAYS, AND PLANS FOR GOOD. Amen.
